Garett Brennan
Garett is passionate about helping people find the right problem to solve and creating collaboration experiences that are deeply rewarding when unlocking those problems, testing solutions, and developing the human and technical tools to scale the best ideas.
His work is driven by helping people trust the messiness and speed of design thinking when applying it to the urgency that our social and environmental challenges are demanding.
Experience
Prior to joining MG, Garett spent 15 years designing and running leadership development programs and civic engagement campaigns for young people wanting to take action on the climate crisis. This capacity-building work then led him to develop similar programs for the Packard Foundation and their global network of sustainable fisheries; Nike and their global network of innovators struggling to get low-carbon materials into the marketplace faster; and the Surfrider Foundation’s network of activists, fishermen, elected officials and tribes tackling conservation issues along the Washington coast. The majority of Garett’s work over the last 15 years has centered around building stronger partner networks and talent pipelines in the climate change, conservation, outdoor recreation and corporate social responsibility sectors.

Garett received his Bachelor of Arts from Willamette University.
In Community
Garett is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and performer and has released six albums since he first collaborated with Clif Bar to launch his music career in 2005. He designed this partnership in the back of his old Subaru, helping the company marry the music side of its story with the athletic, outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship sides of the brand. He enjoys carpentry, cooking, coaching his kids’ soccer teams and being outside as much as possible.
