Haim Malka
Haim is a strategic thinker who brings creative problem-solving to complex global challenges. His work focuses on addressing systemic and entrenched issues including political repression and authoritarianism, conflict and political violence, migration, disinformation, and polarization. He is particularly interested in the intersection of these issues and how values-based narrative change can be an effective tool to address protracted challenges.
Haim’s deep international experience gives him unique insights into problem-solving from multiple perspectives. He is committed to including marginalized voices and building diverse coalitions of stakeholders to address protracted challenges. Haim has worked closely with the executive branch, Congress, numerous U.S. government agencies, foreign governments, and international organizations to find nonpartisan solutions to complex challenges. As a policy specialist, he looks for multilayered and intersectional trends that affect policy debates and outcomes. He is especially interested in how values shape identity and political debates. His family history and personal experiences have fostered a deep interest in migration, and how the intersection of climate change, conflict, and well-being intersect with global migration trends.
Haim is an accomplished author, speaker, and cross-cultural communicator. He has published dozens of journal articles, book chapters, and op-eds. In addition to testifying before Congress, he has lectured widely to government, academic, and private audiences.
Experience
Before joining MG in 2019, Haim spent nearly 15 years developing bipartisan solutions to complex foreign policy issues as a researcher and analyst at a leading Washington think tank. Throughout his career, he has immersed himself in the politics, culture, and economics of North Africa and the Middle East, connecting social and political trends abroad with similar trends in the United States. Before moving to Washington, D.C., he spent five years in Jerusalem as a television news producer covering the Middle East. Wherever he’s been, Haim has explored overlooked trends, sought out marginalized communities, and used his storytelling and analytical skills to convey complex issues to diverse stakeholder audiences.

Haim has a Master of Arts from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Washington.
In Community
Haim is on the board of CorpsAfrica, a nonprofit organization that trains and deploys African youth to volunteer in rural areas within their own country.
He enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors. Haim has a deep appreciation for Arabic music and the intersection of Arabic and Hebrew secular and sacred music. He has presented lectures on Judeo-Arab music and the intersection of music, religion, and identity at Strathmore Music Center and the State Department.
